Scott and Kyle are very excited about their May 2015 wedding--they should be, they're a wonderful young couple with a great life ahead of them! Kyle was hoping for a winter backdrop for--as she called them--her "practice photos." The idea of freshly fallen snow was going to be ideal, and we were looking forward to making this work. However, as it happens, mother nature didn't cooperate, and instead we got a very sunny, almost fall-like day for shooting. Scott and Kyle traveled from their homes... Continue reading

The best part of any wedding is experiencing the love of family. And, that's just what Matt and Hannah wanted on their wedding day--a family event with a lot of love and great, cherished memories! Matt and Hannah were married at the beautiful Third Presbyterian Church on the corner of Meigs Street and East Avenue. It's always a special treat to be in this church with its gorgeous architecture and wonderful light. There are so many corners of this church that are great for photography, and the... A recent return to North Carolina's Outer Banks meant another great week of shooting. We had perfect weather with beautiful clouds and awesome sunrises and sunsets. With the way OBX is situated you can see great sunrises on the ocean side and incredible sunsets on the sound side, all within a ten minute walk. I try to shoot different loacations on these visits, and this time I focused on the Bodie and Cape Hatteras lighthouses and also sunrises at Frisco Pier. The pier was damaged heavily from... Amanda and Josh chose Bristol Harbour Resort, overlooking Canandaigua Lake, for their wedding ceremony and reception. This was wedding extraordinaire with a lot of laughs and cherished memories that made for a spectacular day. Josh and Amanda met several years ago from their mutual interest in hockey, and hockey also took center stage on their wedding day. Amanda is a Buffalo Sabres fan and Josh is a fan of the New Jersey Devils. When I shot their engagement photos in September, we used jerseys... Continue reading

Attending the Baseball of Fame inductions is one of those "must do" events. I was fortunate to have an upclose view of the inductions and to take in all the activities and great speeches. The Class of 2014 included some of baseball's greats:  300-game winners Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine, slugger Frank Thomas, and managers Joe Torre, Bobby Cox and Tony LaRussa. Approximately 48,000 fans attended the inductions at the Clark Sports Center in baseball-famous Cooperstown, NY under beautiful... Continue reading

It's hard to put into words the feelings of the last few days. Early in 2014, my wife, Peggy, and I agreed to join a group of our friends on a hiking trip in the Adirondacks.  We have always enjoyed the Adirondacks, but our past trips there have been mostly for sightseeing. This time, however, our goal was to climb to the top of Mt. Marcy.  At 5,343 feet, Marcy is New York's highest peak. Although we are avid walkers and pseudo runners, we had never hiked--not even one day of our... Continue reading

This week is the start of one of my favorite times of the year--March Madness! And, with this year's first round almost finish, it looks to be another great college basketball tournament--with all the suprises and upsets. One of the reason for this excitement is that I am a proud graduate of the University of Kansas, five-time NCAA Champions.  This year the Jayhawks are ranked number two in the south region after a 24-9 season. March Madness is a topic of conversation in my house all year... Continue reading

We are already several weeks into 2014 and I have yet to post my first photos of the year. Winter is such an awesome time for photographers, and I like to get out a couple of times to shoot in the snow. In Western New York, we spend too much time complaining about our winter weather and not enough time enjoying the beauty that winter brings. Don't get me wrong, I hate shoveling snow as much as the next guy. I have an old Toro snow blower that I purchased from a neighbor almost 20 years ago. The... Continue reading

Pam Sherman's recent column in the Democrat & Chronicle about the "best of" in 2013 sparked me to look at the photos I did this past year and come up with my own collection of "best ofs."  This has been a great year for me with photography.  I had 14 pano pictures published in the D&C, which led to three photos on their 2014 calendar. I took third place in the Life in the Finger Lakes magazine's annual photo contest--the first contest I've entered since my college years. I... Continue reading

Every year on Katie's birthdays I fondly say to her, "Katie, I remember the day you were born." And, every year she rolls her eyes at me and smiles.  Katie is the first-born of my neices and nephews, and she will forever hold a very special place in my heart.  So, you can imagine that this was a wedding I have looked forward to shooting since "the day she was born."Katie and Greg got married on October 19, 2013, a beautiful day with many, many memorable moments. When Katie and Greg... Continue reading
